These are one my favourite things to make, either on the BBQ or on my indoor grill.
What you’ll need.
- One pound of extra lean ground turkey
- Calorie wise BBQ sauce
- Frank’s Hot Sauce (optional)
- Green pepper, red pepper, red onion & garlic
- Multigrain hamburger buns
- Avocado
- Garnishes (i.e.: tomato, pickle, mustard, etc…)
Directions
- Pre-heat your grill
- Chop peppers, onion and garlic (amount to taste)
- Add ground turkey, eggs, BBQ sauce (to taste), hot sauce (to taste) and veggies in a large mixing bowl. Mix extremely well.
- Once mixed let sit for 15 mins in the fridge.
- After letting the mixture sit, ball up the mixture into 3-6 even sized balls and then flatten them into patties.
- Place patties on the grill and cook until no longer pink in colour.
- Place cooked burger into the multigrain bun, add avocado and top with garnish.
Ideally served along with your favourite salad.
Those sound kinda awesome. Man, I really need to get back into cooking.
They’re SO good. I make them at least once a week in the summer.
If I remember correctly you are not a fan of feta cheese (or is it olives?), but it makes a great addition to turkey burgers. I made some the other day with feta, red pepper, chilis and mushroom chopped up in the burger.. then put it in a pita with greek salad and some sprouts.. AMAZING – I love ground turkey burgers! They’re also phenomenal with pesto… mmmmm
If you sauté the veggies in a pan for about 5 minutes until soft, then they aren’t crunchy in the burger, and you don’t even notice them (for people who don’t like their burgers crunchy) You can also add celery which is a great healthy filler.
I love making turkey burgers and my husband loves eating them. I’ll have to try this version of them. I love how you add hot sauce!
